Thanks for the dedication!

I wanted to take a moment to write a thank you to all of the students and instructors who participated in the events this past weekend at the AAC.  On Friday we had a large Promotion Ceremony with more than 50 students.  Each student demonstrated their hard work and dedication to strengthening body and mind.  I would like to thank the Instructors and Assistants who came to the instructor training on Saturday.  We had a great session discussing how to inspire classes and students with enthusiasm.  Thanks to the Instructors for their continued belief in the school and dedication!

Martial Arts Teaches Respect and Self Control

How amazing is this video?  A 12-year old boy was featured on the Doctor Oz show, he is a 2nd degree Black Belt!  Hunter (the boy in the video) discusses that he started taking classes because his teacher told him he “had too much energy”.  Also watch how he continues to identify Dr. Oz as “SIR”.

Kids Martial Arts In Centerville, Ohio

Hello Everyone!  I want to first introduce myself.  My name is Eve Wojtowicz, and I am the new Enrollment Specialist for the Centerville location!   I am so thrilled to be working for such an amazing non-profit organization that thrives on being the best martial arts school.  When I first started at the Asian Arts Center (AAC), I was eager to learn all the benefits that come from taking martial arts classes, and let’s just say I am blown away!  The AAC allows children AND adults to realize their fullest potential and be strong in mind, body, and spirit.  We all want the best for our children.  As a mother, I know my  goal in life is to ensure my child will be the best that she can be.  The AAC has these same goals in mind for every single student that walks through their doors.   One of the key ideas I have learned through the AAC is the idea of breathing, and learning how to really breathe.  When we actually step back and just take a deep breath and listen to ourselves exhale, it almost feels as if you are releasing pent up stress.  The next time you are feeling overwhelmed just take a huge deep breath in and release all that deep down frustration.  It really does work!  The AAC instructors all pride themselves on ensuring that not only are they at the peak of excellence, but they also dedicate themselves to each and every single student.  I look forward to sharing with everyone my experiences and new insights as I learn more about this incredible program!

Guatemala By Alex tienda

Traveling has always been an interest of mine since my brother had left for Italy eight years ago. Since then, the only place that I have been able to go is Mexico to see my relatives and for a couple of Spanish courses during my freshman year of college. That was four years ago and I have had an itch to get out of the country ever since I stepped back onto U.S. soil. Finally, I couldn’t take it any longer and decided to tell Matt that I wanted to travel. While it may not have been Europe where things were on the safer side, it was Guatemala, a country of natural beauty but unfortunately dangerous for tourist to go. I took the opportunity as soon as it came to me and immediately started preparing. Two months in advance, Matt and I were doing a push-up fundraiser for the program we were going to help called Los Patojos (the little ones). Kids living on the street is a common thing in Guatemala and subsequently kids getting into gangs has become a common trait there as well. Los Patojos takes in kids who are looking for a way out or are looking for something better than what they have now. The program educates them, as well as feeds them, for six days out of the week. However, a program such as this needs help with funds, which is where the push-up fundraiser came in. It wasn’t easy though.  It was far from it. One quarter bought you one ticket. Whoever you gave that ticket to had to do ten push-ups. I had trouble towards the end but thankfully my AAC crew helped me out; giving me a grand total of 20,000 push-ups done in two months.  Over the next few days, I will explain my trip to those who read this blog.  But, before any of that, I want to thank everyone from the AAC crew who helped me in my time of need and to every person who gave money to this program. Your generosity (and exhausted muscles) has given the kids in Guatemala an even greater chance at a happier life

Instructor Improvements

I was driving on a country road the other day, heading towards the Cincinnati area. When I drive down those roads, I’m reminded of how much I enjoy the skill involved in handling a car. I started to think about all the other skills I enjoy having and ones I would like to have. One of the thoughts I had was continuing to improve my skills as an instructor.  I believe we are one of the strongest martial arts schools in the country and I want to work hard to be one of the best instructors in Dayton.  I want to pass on the confidence I have to others and to help all those who learn from me to reach their own personal goals.

October Promotion Ceremony

This week, we’ve been gearing up for our promotion ceremony on Friday, October 26th.  All of the students recommended to test have shown a lot of growth and are rising up to literally break through to the next
level.  We have around 60 students testing for their next belt.  It is always exciting to see the intensity of the tests with such a large scale of students!  With each test, the students demonstrate their power, speed, and focus, proving to the judges they can effectively defend themselves and pay attention.
